Since most mobile operators in India are offering daily data limits, it will be useful if the same is calculated and shown in expanded Quick Settings (in the same line as the power and settings button).

Monthly data usage is irrelevant for most users. Please provide the option to switch data usage cycle to a daily option, in addition to the existing monthly calculation setting.

Use Samsung Max VPN, it has a section which shows Daily Data usage

From its name, it suggests that it will use a VPN (even if local) to provide that feature. If that be true, one won't be able to use other VPN apps without disabling this one. This makes it much less useful.

There is another app that i use which provides this feature without using a VPN:

This allows me to monitor the data usage while also being able to use another VPN. Much more useful.

Local VPN is turned on if you want to control/restrict internet access of certain apps

Oh. That's good then. I use Netguard for that purpose. So this will be a good alternative. One app in place of two.
