Ashu1143 is right, samsung phones now need to be plugged in, otherwise it won't enter recovery mode.
Also uday12 clearly edit the steps before Step 1, whether to connect or not connect usb for tablets or phones.
It unclear reading the first part.
Good infoπŸ‘πŸΌ

Bad idea to connect 2 smartphones with each other using a cable. It can potentially destroy the charging port (s).

But why πŸ€”

In simple terms, when you connect a cable to the usb port of the phone, the phone tries to draw power from the other device, if it is capable of supplying power (e.g. power brick). Otherwise, the phone will supply power to run the other devcie (e.g. USB disk).

When you connect two smartphones with each other, there is no clear master/ slave relationship, which in other words means it isn't clear who is supposed to play what role, since both devices can transfer power both ways. When that happens, there is potential that the devices will end up frying each other's ports.

So, NOT RECOMMENDED.

OTG device draws power from the phone. So the OTG cable transfers power one way - from the device to the USB disk.
