Tech TalkThis is a time when everyone is focusing on the main functions, and since One UI 6.0 has many changes, it is a very hectic time, so the announcement of Good Lock has been delayed a bit. Beta users here and there in various communities ask, 'When will Good Lock be released?' Seeing the influx of questions about this, we thought, 'We should quickly let you know the schedule.' Before we tell you about the schedule, we would like to tell you what we are most worried about during Good Lock these days. Good Lock is most difficult at the time of OS upgrade when the Galaxy platform and One UI change drastically. Goodlock staff are always working on ways to ensure that Android can continue to be used freely and conveniently despite changes in the Android OS. In addition, as the number of functions increases and the number of users increases, the complexity of functions and One UI consistency become more necessary.
We also saw feedback that it was both Galaxy's strength and weakness. It was heartbreaking, but these are things we had to admit. Some modules are being prepared to improve these structural problems rather than adding features. This may be possible with small improvements, and sometimes, it may be necessary to completely change the structure to create a new foundation for further development. The reason for the long and hesitant explanation is that the developers are sincerely considering various feedback, and we would like to ask for your understanding in advance that it may take some time for the results of that consideration to be reflected in modules that are slightly delayed.
Coming back to the main topic, this is the One UI 6.0 plan and major changes:
* Good Lock will be launched simultaneously with the official One UI 6.0 release.
* We've seen posts about inconveniences when installing modules with every upgrade, so we're trying to reduce the steps of moving to the store so they can be installed quickly and easily without moving.
* Edge lighting +, which was only available on the Galaxy foldable, will be introduced in earnest this time. We hope you will try using it with the cute pop effect you want when you receive notifications.
* Sound Assistant: It seems that decorating the volume panel is only done through colour selection, so please look forward to the change by providing various effects and control method changes so that you can enjoy new decoration effects.
* Wonderland, which has changed with a unique lock screen effect, is preparing to enable new transition effects when moving between AOD and lock screen/home screen.
* We are preparing to provide more detailed information about why the notifications are not ringing through Nice Catch.
This is being prepared for One UI 6.1:
* Many people have complained about the inconvenience of LockStar/ClockFace having a structure that is separate from the lock screen, so we are preparing it so that it can be set naturally within the lock screen. This is a very big task, so we think the people in charge of the lock screen will be encouraged if you give them some words of support :)
* Keys Cafe is developing a feature that allows you to map desired functions to keyboard gestures and designate keyboard touch sounds as desired.
Changes and delayed features:
* Home Up is undergoing major structural improvements to support a wider variety of styles. In the meantime, there were many difficulties in fitting the various functions of One UI to the basic Android home screen, and there were limitations in providing core decoration modules as desired.
* To provide more diverse types of gestures/styles on the most frequently used home screen, we are completely redesigning the structure for the new One UI rather than based on Android's basic structure. We're sorry about this, but some parts of the home screen felt a little unstable during the beta process. We are very grateful to those who always participate in the beta and help us improve. However, I think you can expect further development through this process, so I have updated the details of what we are preparing.
* In addition, we would like to inform you in advance that through this structural change, DeX, which is widely used, has the advantage of being able to integrate and support the keyboard and mouse in a more convenient mode while retaining the various advantages of the home screen (you will soon be able to check it out on tablets with One UI 6.0).
* In conclusion, please understand in advance that it is a bit difficult to access Home Up at the same time as One UI 6.0. We will provide a separate notice as soon as the schedule is organized.
* The theme park has a structural implementation in addition to the theme of the terminal. Every time you install a theme, you may wonder why it takes so long to install like an app. By changing the structure, we want to improve these inconveniences and aim for a lighter implementation. Due to this change, some features (icon shape changes and keyboard wallpaper) will not be provided when One UI 6.0 is released. We'll keep you updated via Goodlock notices as we work as soon as it's supported.
* Also, please look forward to the ‘Dropship Ride Together’ feature that will be released soon regardless of the One UI 6.0 upgrade. While testing it internally, there was a lot of good feedback from sharing it among close friends, and since it is a Korean-only service, we hope that Korean customers will respond well.
One thing we are preparing for 2024:
The Game Booster team has joined Good Lock. So, we are planning a Good Lock module related to the games. Lastly, this year's Good Lock goods are not plentiful, but we felt disappointed internally, so we prepared a small amount separately. We will send a separate notice to those who support Good Lock. We are always grateful to our customers who love Good Lock. We will work hard this weekend to stabilize the beta and prepare for the launch of Good Lock.
