Gmail: How to automatically delete emails

Step 1: Open Gmail on your PC or laptop.

Step 2: In the search bar, you will notice a filters icon. Just tap on it.

Note: In case the icon is not visible to you, then you will also find it in the settings section > “Filters and blocked addresses” tab. After this, you just need to tap on the “Create a new filter” button

Step 3: You will notice “From” written on top. Just enter the name or email address of those emails that are not important. For example, if you don’t want emails from services such as Zomato, Voot, Quora, Facebook, LinkedIn, then you can simply enter their email id.

Note: It is always better to enter an email id than just a name because if any of your emails contain the same name, then Gmail might delete that also. If you just want Gmail to delete emails from specific senders, then mention full email id.

Step 4: Once you have done this, just click on Create filter and then select “Delete it.”

Step 5: After this, you just need to click again on Create filter. You are set now.

It should be noted that this feature doesn’t delete all your old emails and is for all the upcoming emails. Once you create a filter, your Gmail will automatically delete it. You can always delete the filters that you have created. For this, just head to settings > Filters and blocked addresses. Here’s you will be able to edit or delete filters. This method will ensure that your Gmail remains clean.
