The Galaxy S20 FE was released in 2020, and it came in two variants: one with the Exynos 990 (4G) and another with the Snapdragon 865 (5G) chip. Both variants launched with Android 10 (One UI 2.5) out of the box and followed the same update policy: 3 major OS upgrades and 5 years of security updates.

Over time, both versions received Android 11, Android 12, and Android 13 (One UI 6), completing their promised OS support. The final update for both was the October 2025 security patch, after which Samsung officially ended software support.

So, both the Exynos and Snapdragon models started with the same Android version, followed the same update cycle, and ended together with the October 2025 patch, meaning there will be no further updates or One UI 8 for this device.

The Galaxy S21 FE with the Exynos variant has already started receiving the One UI 8 update in India and several global regions. The Snapdragon variant has also begun rolling out globally, but it hasn’t arrived in India yet. It’s very likely that the update will start reaching Indian units from tomorrow or early next week. You can check manually by going to Settings › Software update › Download and install.

The Galaxy M53 5G update rollout was paused earlier after its initial release but resumed about a week ago in South Korea 🇰🇷 · the Indian variant hasn’t received it yet but should get it very soon, most likely within the next few days. 😊
