Samsung’s taking its sweet time in advancing the Android 12 and One UI 4.0 beta program for the Galaxy S21 series beyond the very first beta release. It’s making us wonder if the company will be able to stick to its official goal of releasing Android 12 for the Galaxy S21 lineup in late 2021, but it seems Google isn’t worried.

Google announced today that it is officially releasing the source code for the final version of Android 12. In addition to revealing that the update would arrive on Pixel smartphones in the next few weeks, Google says it’s also coming to Samsung Galaxy, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Tecno, Vivo, and Xiaomi devices later this year.

Naturally, the part about Samsung Galaxy devices is what we’re interested in. This isn’t the first time that Google has provided an estimate for when a new version of Android would arrive on Galaxy devices, but it’s good to see nonetheless. It will also be interesting to see if Samsung will bring the update to more than just the Galaxy S21 series before 2022.

Of course, the biggest question is exactly how long we’ll have to wait for the stable Android 12 and One UI 4.0 update to start rolling out. Considering Samsung has only released a single beta build for the Galaxy S21 series till now, it could take a while.

The public Android 11 rollout for the Galaxy S20 series started in the first week of December last year, and if we’re being honest, we won’t mind waiting until the same time this year for Android 12 to arrive. What matters most is that Samsung makes the release as smooth and stable as possible instead of rushing it out the door, and if that means testing our patience, so be it.
