Tech TalkDear Samsung Team,
I really appreciate the efforts behind Bixby Vision, but I believe some improvements and additional features can make it much more powerful and useful, especially for persons with visual impairments (blind) and frequent travelers. My suggestions are:
1. Run Without Internet: Many features (like Colour Detector, Text Reader, Scene Description, and Translation) can work offline. Please allow these features to run without internet connectivity for faster access and wider usability.
2. Colour detection: Currently, colour detection is highly inaccurate and almost always reads the wrong colour. It should be improved significantly for reliable results.
3. Text Reader & Translation – Paragraph Orientation: At present, the Text Reader and Translation features merge all text into a single paragraph. It should maintain the original paragraph orientation of the scanned image for better readability.
4. Scene Description – Detailed Output: The current description is too basic (e.g., identifying only a chair in a photo with a table and chair). It should provide detailed descriptions, including multiple objects, their colors, shapes, and related belongings (e.g., “There is a table with a red cloth, a chair beside it, and a book on the table”).
Competing apps like Chat GPT, Gemini, and Meta AI provide more detailed scene descriptions—Samsung Bixby Vision can do the same or better.
5. Video Description via Samsung Ai: Please add the ability to describe live videos using Samsung AI. Microsoft Seeing AI and PiccyBot can describe videos but not live content. Samsung has the technology to integrate real-time video description, which will be groundbreaking for accessibility.
6. Currency Recognition & Reading Feature: As Samsung is a global brand, adding multi-currency recognition and reading will help both international travelers and visually impaired users.
Other apps like Microsoft Seeing AI and Google Lookout have offered this feature for years—Samsung Bixby Vision should include it too.
These updates will not only enhance accessibility but also make Samsung Bixby Vision a global leader in AI-powered assistance. I hope the team will consider integrating these improvements in upcoming updates.
