Tech TalkSo many of you will be thinking why sometimes proximity sensor doesn't work properly when on calls or using auto brightness and it is consuming too much battery.
The reason for it is Virtual proximity sensors, meaning they don't have a hardware proximity sensor, but they utilize the gyroscope and the accelerometer to sense when the phone is raised to the ear. Sometimes they also use FFC(Front Facing camera)
This would explain why s20 FE keeps somehow keeps opening the emergency dialer and mashing the keypad while in pocket, Because it doesn't have a hardware proximity sensor
This would also explain very high battery usage(Sometimes 50% in just 2 hours) on some models.
Specially mid-range phones with full-screen display(punch hole) are having virtual proximity sensor.
