Tech TalkDisclaimer: This is a general educational purpose post.
Hey Members! I hope you all are doing great.
So here is a PC buying guide for non-tech people in commoners' language.
So first of all comes the purpose of buying a PC.
Yes, purpose that is for what reason or use or purpose will that pc be used?
For example, if you are getting a pc for general use like web browsing, movies, or educational like for kids then we need a low budget and low specifications or if you are an office guy mostly presentations or say a professional video/photo/graphic editor does multitasking, graphics stuff then the things change very much.
And now I would like to give a disclaimer:
1) This is not sponsored
2) I know those pro tech guys please do not point out mistakes because I need to keep stuff simple for common people to understand.
So without any further ado lets begin,
first up purpose/use:
For general use, by that, I mean normal browsing, video meetings, and normal stuff a current generation Intel Core i3 one with 4/8GB of RAM and an SSD is enough, also you can try ultrabooks and premium ultrabooks and notebooks if you want to spend more on a lightweight, premium look, great display, sound and 18h-22h or more battery.
Then we got office boys who need a sleek premium look, great battery, and yes must last all day with great visuals for presentations and yes ports of course.
Those can be office laptops like ultrabooks like Xiaomi book, realme book, Chromebooks (if you want chrome os), those HP Spreak, Evny, Dell Inspiron, Acer Aspire 5/7, etc.
Now let's go to the heavy and bulky boys! Yes let in gamers and editing boys and we at least need the latest generation Intel i5/7/9 based on requirements or even AMD Ryzen 7000 series with those powerful graphics yes dedicated ones like NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050Ti, or GTX 1650, RTX 4060 based upon load, or those AMD Ryzen graphics!
For entry-level gaming and editing the i5 H series or AMD Ryzen 7000 H series with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 165(4 GB) or AMD RYZEN Graphics are enough.
Now you ask what the hell is this H series so let me tell you that Intel and AMD name the CPU the following this sort of convention:
H = high performance
K = unlocked performance
X = for desktops only
and then there are extreme editions
for ex let's break down this 13th Gen Intel i9 13900K
13 =13th gen
9 = i9
this guy got 24 cores = 8 performance + 16 efficiency cores
that K is performance unlocked
lets see 12th Gen Intel Core i5 12450H
see 12 is 12th gen
it got 8 cores= 4 performance + 4 efficiency cores
H is a high performance
let's see i5 1240P
see that P means more battery low performance
Total Cores
12
# of Performance-cores
4
# of Efficient-cores
8
H one got 4+4 if you notice
there is one U also like i3 5500U (this one is about 4th gen btw)
U is between P and H
in short P>U>H>K>KF>KX>X
those K and X are more common with i7/9
and now if you ask for whome is those i7/i9 or AMD Ryzen™ 9 7950X3D and those real high ones??
The answer is those who do heavy multitasking, heavy graphics, etc, those who do heavily demanding tasks need those.
now let's conclude:
normal use: i3
game/editing (under 80K): i5 H ones or higher
heavy and demanding: i7/i9 or AMD Ryzen™ 9 7950X3D and those real high ones
(may go above 500k)
Graphics Card:
normal: integradetd intel/amd
game/edit (under 80K / entry level): NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or AMD Ryzen ones
pro demanding: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050/4060, AMD RYZEN higher ones.
Talking about RAM:
Get either min a DDR4 3200Mhz or nothing lower
more demanding ones may need DDR5 4800Mhz
and warning: 1600Mhz was present back then in 2014 and now pc having those ram are useless!
Thanks 🙂
