Does the charging icon appear when you plug it in?

Hi Steve, no it does not (plugged it into my Dell laptop) I will just wait for 2 hours as you suggested. If that doesn't work, I'll leave it overnight and take the tablet to a Samsung store. Thanks for your suggestions and help, I appreciate it.

Ok sorry too hear, I've only had that issue when I've made it completely flat and left it. But the laptop usually fixed it. The issue was that the small amount of charge coming from the normal charger needed to initialise the tablet to show the turned off charging screen was forcing a restart loop on the background and causing the charger not to supply the power. But hourly your case is the same and the laptop fixes it. After it's back you can switch to the normal charger again. Its just the charger bootloop that usually messes up things

If the charging icon does not initialise try plugging it into a different charger or use a different cable... if that still doesn't work ...i would try plugging it into a computer or laptop
1. You'll be able to see if the laptop can see the device probably means the port is operational.
2. Leave it on charge on the computer overnight this will force a constant charge of 5V 500mA to 5V 1A into the device negating the whole intelligent 'smart' charging issue... that has worked for me before with a previous galaxy tab.

Update: Samsung store tech couldn't give me a solution so have sent the tablet in for repairs/diagnostics. Warranty of 2 years which is quite nice
