I just added a few 'Tapo' home automation devices, and I can say my overall experience and satisfaction have been pretty low. The Tapo app itself does provide major automation, but the Smart Things app does not.
You can generally view your apps via linking partner devices, but no major automation if you don't have the latest smart TVs or French Door refrigerators that can work like smart things hub. Tapo hub does provide matter capabilities but it needs a smartthings hub.
That's not the only problem. The second problem is the non-availability of major Indian Brands like 'Qubo', 'Homemate', Livpure or Symphony. Let these rest, even my AC, which comes from 'LG' [ the Korean brand], I couldn't add it to the smartthings app, whereas it comes with AI capabilities and does work with Google Home and its own app. I couldn't add it to the smartthings.
The non-availability of Indian Brands and even Korean ones, not having the option of going to the cheaper ones ( Qubo ). It is pretty underwhelming. Smart switches are a better option than smart Bulbs ( because if someone switches off the switch then they are as good as dumb ). Homemate are a good option but they are again not available.
When I get my Tapo smart switches and motion sensors, I will post an update after checking everything.
If you're providing a live camera option, you should also have the option to connect with Tapocare so you can check your past videos, but here again a 'no.'
