Google has officially announced Android 14 after six months of beta testing. It brings a lot of new features and enhancements. These were announced during the Google Pixel 8 Series event. While other manufacturers may use their custom skin based on Android 14, some features may be included while others remain untouched for some time.

There are no major software upgrades. Instead, Google focuses on improving existing apps and optimizing Android for an immersive experience. This includes customization features, camera improvements, easier password management, and more.

Google is rolling out Android 14.

The company has started rolling out the Android 14 update to Google Pixel 4a or higher, including tablets and foldable devices. Android 14, also known as Android U with the desert name UpsideDownCake, has an Easter egg that resembles NASA’s Apollo 14 Mission logo.

With Android 14, the company focuses on making the user interface cleaner within the Backgrounds and Styles app, which has undergone significant revisions compared to Android 13.

Since Google released the update after multiple beta tests, you likely will not have issues upgrading your device to the latest version. The following smartphones are eligible for the Android 14 update:

  • Google Pixel 4a
  • Google Pixel 5
  • Google Pixel 5a
  • Google Pixel 6
  • Google Pixel 6 Pro
  • Google Pixel 6a
  • Google Pixel 7
  • Google Pixel 7 Pro
  • Google Pixel 7a
  • Google Pixel Fold
  • Google Pixel Tablet

Users will receive the update via OTA; with the OTA method, users do not require a factory reset of their device. Users can download Android 14 Stable on their supported device by navigating to Device Settings > System Update > Check for OTA Update.
