not only Samsung. many OEMs does that. it's the industry standard now. you are expected to upgrade at least every 2 years to be not left behind. that's why they are launching phones on yearly basis and stop support after 1 or 2 Android version changes, typically 2 years
don't keep you expectations high while buying your next phone. these OEMs are money minded rather customer oriented. better go for iphones as they support a long period before discontinuing.
