OthersIllegal use of Samsung factory/confidential services is at a high these days. Many people are offering services where you just connect your cell phone to your pc and they use some USB redirector software to illegally change your device's IMEI and serial no. thus encouraging the theft of Samsung phones.
Recently I was involved in an incident and my Fold4 was snatched. To my surprise, no law agencies were able to trace it.
Later I came to know that changing IMEI on Samsung devices is so easy that's why the stolen devices become untraceable.
I searched the web and found a lot of services named CPID Repair. They charge somewhere around 50-60 USD and change the IMEI using nothing but just a normal USB cable and a redirector tool.
It is a serious concern for Samsung's security. See Apple devices, for instance, changing IMEI is not possible as far as I know. Even OnePlus, Google Pixels, Xiaomi, and Huawei don't allow illegal changes to IMEI. Then why Samsung is taking it so casually? Maybe Samsung is earning by selling backdoor services themselves.
It is a pity that in this era of advancement of technology, a tech giant like Samsung is unable to close this loophole.
Here are logs if it can help you.
