One UI 7 first impressions* 🤮*

Honestly saying, the One UI 7 icons looks extremely terrible. It feels like kids mode. What kind creepy icons have they made? The current UI 6.1'Sicons looks premium. Not only the icons, the overall looks has completed changed and looks like cheap toyphone UI... Also many designs copied from Apple... Shame... Samsung lost their uniqueness in the midway... For comparison, I am sharing both of the UI 6 and UI 7 Icons:

I am a software developer.

I would like to provide a completely different perspective of it.

Firstly, design is a subjective thing. A good design for me could be a bad one for you and vice-versa.

Secondly, until One UI 6.1.1 the icons were constant in terms of it's layout.

One UI 7, brings a feature called dark icons for dark mode that makes the icon layout variable.

Finally, It is very easy to criticize and backlash developers. But think logically, light mode icons needs to be vibrant to be differentiated from dark mode icons.

Sometime (just for fun), sit back and design one icon from scratch. Just to see how much of creativity and skill it requires.

Chill, I praise the same developers who made the UI 6 icons.

And as a UI/UX designer, I know how hard is to work in this sector and I am working in this sector for the past 14 years.

So, This is my opinion. I've asked in this post, Where are the real One UI developers.

And at the end of the day, as consumers, we can't do anything. So yeah, chill, we just share our opinion as a consumer.

I am saying that to same One UI developers that the icon you guys designed till UI 6 is awesome, it sometimes takes time to adapt to new things.


And btw, this not how you behave with your consumers in the chat box. And I am loyal Samsung customer since 2010; Galaxy S.


And my opinion is going to be the same.

I have a huge respect for UI/UX designers. All designers, for the matter of fact.

My point was that software developers also deserve the same respect and appreciation.

You are in this field. You should know that these developers do not hold creative liberty and design independence.

Everyone has a management above, and they are doing what they are told to do. If something looks identical to iOS, then the management wants it to look like iOS.

Moreover, this is an ongoing quest. iOS wants to reach a middle ground to look like One UI and One UI does the same at some extend. It will be a never ending process.

Only constant thing in design is CHANGE and change is a good thing for development.

The thing that looked odd is that your post started with backlashing the developers.

This time, the developers had to do double the job as every icon has two versions of same instance.

I am not here to change your opinion. Keep believing what you want to. I said, design is Subjective. But respect and appreciation are ways of humanity.
