Android 16 DP2 is coming soon. DP1 came out November 19. With Android 16, Google has changed the release schedule, meaning that the final versionis coming way earlier. What do ya'll think about this? This is also concerning because Samsung is releasing One UI 7 in the beginning of 2025, meaning that by the time Samsung will have received One UI 7 to all devices, the final version of Android 16 will have been available.

Google changed the Android release time table allow phone makers more time to develop and test their OS updates. Even Pixel will be getting A16 update in end of August or September.
Currently manufacturers are having a very tight schedule to release their updates.

Food for thought, Google and Samsung both being tight partners, possibly talked about releasing the next OS with their new flagships similar to Apple with its iPhone and shifted around dates to see what works for both of them in terms of OS Development and stable release.

Again, food for thought, so take with a grain of salt.

At this point, both major OSs [iOS & Android] are fully mature. Newer updates come with optimizations & polish. This means the impact to my productivity may not be all that great, with subsequent releases.

So, it may make no real world difference to me when a new OS version comes out.

I'm majorly interested in stability, security and functionality that leads to real world productivity gains.

Take AI for example. As I use my phone for work, the most important tools to me are Gemini, Perplexity and ChatGPT. These can be installed on any modern Samsung device, regardless of whether it is a flagship or not. Even my older Galaxy A70 runs these apps.

Use-case scenarios will be different for all of us, however. Me? I'm happy to patiently wait for updates.
