Xiaomi still denies any wrong doing because they claim that they collected data only after getting permission from the customer.
When and where did the customer give permission?
Technically they did when they hurriedly tapped on "Agree" button of the 'Terms & Conditions' when setting up the browser first time (which 99% people generally do).
In this regard, i just want to share some thoughts and caution you guys that-
1. Never allow unnecessary permissions to unknown apps or with some with which you are skeptical about (for example, if an app asks you for location permission and you think it is not required for it then don't grant it.).
2. Never enter your details everywhere on the internet.
And most importantly
3. Always read T&C and ToS of the application you use (specially chinese).
If you notice, even the clock application in the xiaomi and oppo phones show t&c when you open it first time. Which is very suspicious for such a small and straight forward app like clock.

Beneficiary of all this is the Communist Party of China and Chinese Government which is trying to gain power and control using unethical means, partly the brand also as the brand tries to sell the data to basically anyone(remember in China, CCP themselves are the law, and they don't give a **bleep** about anyone) and earn money till the device is being used. What Chinese companies are doin is selling the phone at an initial low profit but slowly steal the data themselves and send malwares which could potentially send your data to unknown chinese servers(OnePlus was caught doing this), maybe requested by the Govt or similar so the OnePlus sent a patch to one of it's app with the same and removed it with the next update, but some people caught them and saw the data being sent to unknown chinese servers, Even Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Realme also does these. Sadly people are not aware of the consequences of the same. If you someday visit the Dark Web, you can find people's bank account, credit card, debit card details, nd other credentials there, being sold for like a few hundred bucks. China is very deeply involved in all these illegal stuff nd underground world. Now they've been succeeded in exporting a virus, and collapsing most of the economies in the world..Enough reason China should be boycotted. I have just lost words for them. An average Chinese may not have any role in it but their Govt is just crazy for power and must be taught a lesson by all the major powers of the world.

told you, not to buy any products or services from cheap chinese companies.

chinese government wants to gather data from people around the world using it's companies, be it huawei, xiaomi, oppo, vivo, lenovo. they have backdoors thru which users are tracked
