unable to use data copied to clipboard into gmail

I am not able to use data copied to clipboard into gmail app. clipboard icon visible when cursor is in subject part of mail but instead of clipboard icon settings icon is shown in matter part of mail. So how to use data copied to clipboard in the matter part of mail?

can't say why, in fact I was unaware of it, when I saw your post I checked sending an email using Gmail and found you are right, clipboard option goes off and a new option comes up, keyboard reduce size option
