when I connect external hard disk with Samsung galaxy s8 plus using usb connector, it's showing charging the connected device that is external hard disk, choosing other option such as transfer files, its get disconnected and again same option gets selected that is charging connected device . moreover it's showing the external hard disk is corrupted, format the external hard disk. So understand what will happen if I format 500 gb of data ,at the same time when I connect external hard disk with my pc or laptop it's working fine . So how to resolve this issue. formatting is not the solution.

Thank you for your query. The relevant department may serve you better/speedily, if you can provide logs/video by registering this feedback in Error Section (Samsung Members App -> Feedback -> Questions/Errors -> Create -> Error reports).

Usually the format of HDD would be NTFS and Android phones can access only fat32 formats. You need to root your phone to access HDD from your phone.
