Sharing a nighmare experince whiile switching to S25+ from S22+ with Jio eSIM

Background :

  • Old mobile S22+ with eSIM and physical sim which was deactivated (I was not aware) .
  • eSIM QR code available (but its not feasible to use with the new mobile with different EID) /  QR code had expired.
  • Aadhar ID card is linked to same mobile and biometric loack activated

How did it go wrong ?

  • Used smart switch to transfer all data to new S25+ ( worked normal)
  • Transferred physical sim to new mobile did not work ( was already deactivated )
  • Old eSIM not useful as its with old s22+ Mobile with different EID
  • eSIM removed from old mobile with expectation that new eSIM can be requested from Jio app on new S25+
  • Jio App on request for eSIM with new EID - send OTP To mobile . The eSim on old mobile was de activated - no way to receive the OTP to activate new eSIM.  myJio app wont sent the OTP to registered email.

Support from Jio Point (Service)

  • Online support asked to contact Jio Life /Jio Point or Reliance Digital
  • Since Biometric was locked and Aadhar was linked to same mobile number - not possible to activate again . No D-KYC solution available

How did I solve it ?

  • Mobile number updated in Aadhar and then removed Biometric lock
  • Approached Jio Point again to issue physical sim
  • Mobile started normal function in 24 hours

What could be  the best way for some one new this and trying to switch (lessons learnt) with eSIM

  • Use smart switch to transfer all data to new mobile device
  • Open MyJio ( or similar service provider app)  and reqquest eSIM with new EID
  • Check the OTP on old mobile ( still active as eSIM is not deactivated ) and use it on new mobile device MyJio App
  • The eSIM for new mobile device will be delivered to your email .

I really wish some one in Jio or Samsung guided well for eSIM user who is trusting them to have an easy switching

I shared it as I could not find any clear instruction in Smartswitch application while doing it. The transfer function could have sensed the eSIM and guided the user to avoid mistake of "removing eSIM" from old device.
