Look at the sky for instance it's a mess, is something wrong with my wide angle cam? Or is there a trick to take better photos in this mode? I just can't seem to get rid of the grain in 0.6x. This was taken in default settings.

If the 0.6x wide-angle lens on your Galaxy S24 Ultra is appearing grainy, there are a few things you can try to improve the image quality:

1. **Clean the Lens**: Sometimes, dust or fingerprints on the lens can cause images to appear grainy. Use a soft cloth to clean the lens gently.

2. **Good Lighting**: Make sure you're shooting in well-lit conditions. Low light can often lead to grainy images, especially with wide-angle lenses.

3. **Steady Hand**: Wide-angle lenses can sometimes pick up motion blur if the camera moves during the shot. Try stabilizing your hand or using a tripod if possible.

4. **Check Settings**: Ensure that you are using the appropriate settings for the best image quality. For example, using HDR (High Dynamic Range) can help in certain situations.

5. **Update Software**: Make sure your phone's software is up to date. Sometimes, camera performance improvements are included in updates.

6. **Reset Camera App**: If none of the above work, try resetting the camera app to its default settings. This can sometimes resolve software-related issues.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, it might be a hardware issue, and you may need to contact Samsung support for further assistance or possibly a repair.

With 0.6x, you are using ultra wide mode. I believe this is partially because of the background lighting condition and partially a software issue.

For instance, try the same shot with the default camera app and with the Expert RAW app (uw mode). You will see there's a big difference.

You are right! RAW takes much better photos than normal. Normal is just a total mess in UW angle. Why is that? Left Raw right normal.

Also, can I change the aspect ratio for photos in raw? I don't see such an option.20240318_173529_1000007116_1710772537.jpg20240318_173618_1000007118_1710772580.jpg

You cannot change the aspect ratio, because Expert RAW is for professional use. Usually editing software like Lightroom supports this aspect ratio.

These 0.6x photos I shot around 6.00 am outdoors. If you zoom in, you will notice some graininess (and some banding in the sky). That's why I believe this is partially a software issue. 20240319_060213_1000011957_1710813734.jpg20240319_060035_1000011956_1710813636.jpg20240319_055826_1000011955_1710813508.jpg20240319_055737_1000011954_1710813459.jpg

Appreciate the reply and the photos. Here's one I took in daylight native camera in 0.6x no visible grain in the bright areas, but if I zoom into darks, I see some graining, but overall, it's a great pic clouds look gorgeous the outside of the house looks nice.though samsung should solve these processing issues with their s24u cameras grain is mostly a result of over sharpening. Thanks again for sharing your pics!

Fortunately, it just isn't my phone with the grains. I asked reddit community aswell they say it's expected in lowlight and with high ISO. They said its normal and common, and to get the best pics in lowlight, either use Pro Mode and adjust ISO manually or use lowlight mode in native cam, which ultimately eliminates all grain in taken photos. You should join reddit communities for S24u as well if you aren't in them already. One is r/Galaxys24ultra, and the other goes by the name of r/S24Ultra. Both are great!
