I purchased the Galaxy S22 Ultra mainly because I wanted a taste of the flagship camera experience and because the aggressive marketing campaign and the innumerable reviews exalting the so-called upgraded camera module did me in. In reality, however, the cameras are nowhere near as impressive.

• Every single picture captured undergoes software processing that renders it looking unreal and awful. There is no provision for user input, and therefore no way for the user to control the amount of post-processing.

• Even the slightest bit of zoom in both photo and video mode generates blurriness in the subject. This is not very noticeable at lower zoom levels, but gets worse as the zoom increases. There is no way you can capture a decent sunset video without distortion if you want to zoom in and crop the landscape.

• The pro mode and expert RAW mode are even worse, as the amount of processing applied renders the pictures near-cartoonish. Videos from the pro-mode are grainy and hazy 100% of the time.

• The zoom is pretty much unusable beyond 10-15x if you are looking for sharpness and detail.

• Lastly, the so-called 'nightography', which was marketed to death, is a joke. The cameras positively struggle in low-light, and the only thing the night mode does is to add some brightness in post-processing. The pictures and videos are grainy and blurry every single time. If you're looking to purchase this phone for the astrophotography, etc., DON'T. Save up and invest in a decent DSLR, instead.

I've added some pictures for reference. I'm sincerely regretting purchasing this phone now. SAMSUNG, PLEASE, release a software update and fix this.

30x zoom in broad daylight and a steady hand. The fringe on the bird's head was added in post-processing. 🤭 Do you see the amount of polishing going on?

30x zoom in daylight again. The picture speaks for itself.

Picture taken of the sky in semi-darkness before sunrise. The amount of grain and blur is unbelievable.

No words.

Pro-mode. Severely post-processed.

I completely agree. Photo and video is great if you leave it as zoomed out as possible. As soon as you even slightly zoom in, it makes it everything look like an old Photoshop filter. I used my phone to video something at work and it is unusable because I barely zoomed in. I was using FiLMic Pro because I thought maybe it was the Samsung software. Absolutely horrible. You'd think they'd test it before they send them out this way.

I have the same exact experience.  I told the Verizon guy i don't care about ANYTHING else on the phone other than A) no foldable b/c it's just not my thing and B) the camera.  ALL phones are plenty  good phone/message/internet devices today so I don't care about anything but the camera.  My iphone 8 that I ditched for the S22 had a MUCH better camera.  Processing ruins every photo this phone takes.  Complete trash.

My S22 Ultra camera has same issues as ashara-dayne described. However,  it was not like that in the beginning. I wonder if some software update broke the image processing.

Same issue here.  My kids hand me their lower cost phones to take pictures because the ones this phone takes are so poor.

You are right the camera is trash, I believe it was better last year but I think some updates they did made it even worse I'm very disappointed in this over expensive phone. It should have came with a warning label because they false advertised this **bleep** it is trash completely trash trash trash they should be sued for this **bleep** false advertisement. It used to show good but now it's just the created the picture lighting don't adjust and everything is just awful.

I also recently took family pictures with my phone and I was so sad because all the people would like clay and you can't zoom in to see a clear picture it was just awful

You are more than correct the picture quality is trash in the daytime when the lighting is just right and makes your pictures look like clay the pixels are horrible. It may look good from a distance sometimes but when you zoom in please don't zoom in it gets very ugly. It does not easily stabilize and even when you're trying to take a picture sometimes it just stays blurry looking but the main thing is all your stuff look like clay

these are some pictures I took of an owl do you see how the pixels are extremely destroyed? I could have stuck with my Moto G stylus that cost $200 if I wanted this quality pictures.

For privacy **bleep** I'm not going to post pictures but I recently went to birthday party and I took pictures with my phone and I had the lady do group picture with my phone and every single face look like clean the lighting was awful and I was so disappointed my camera lenses are clean there's no cracks in my lenses it's also a brand new phone that I got to replace my old one with my old one did crack and it's like it's worse after the update. I am highly disappointed in this company I normally never use Samsung but this is the first time in years sadly because LG stop making phones.

and for the losers out there who don't believe we are real Samsung Galaxy s22 phone users here's a little of my information also we logged and with my Samsung Galaxy s22 account but the it is what it is I was scammed.

One thing I do like about the phone is that come with themes, but my Moto G stylus 5G came with themes as well. And my Moto G stylus also had a pen just like this phone, and all the LG phones I have prior to my Moto G stylist after LG stop selling phones at pens. I didn't really like the Moto G stylist phone overall because of some of the features so I wanted to upgrade to another phone that had a pen so I switched companies and got this phone.
