As a tech enthusiast and a proud owner of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, I was thrilled to test out its highly anticipated LOG video recording feature. This was supposed to bring a new level of color grading flexibility, allowing users to capture professional-quality footage. Unfortunately, my experience with it left me frustrated and questioning its usefulness.

The Issues with LOG Recording on the Galaxy S25 Ultra

1. Freezing During Conversion

One of the first problems I encountered was that the camera app would freeze while converting the video with color correction. This was not a one-time glitch—it happened multiple times, making it incredibly unreliable. When you’re trying to finalize a video, the last thing you want is for your phone to freeze and potentially lose the footage.

2. No Background Processing in the Gallery App

Another major drawback is that you cannot minimize the Gallery app while processing the video. Normally, on most flagship devices, you can switch between apps while a video continues to process in the background. However, with LOG enabled, the S25 Ultra forces you to keep the Gallery app open at all times, which is extremely inconvenient.

3. No Sound in the Downloaded Color-Corrected Video

After recording, I went ahead and downloaded the video with color correction applied. To my surprise, the final file had no sound—completely silent! This is unacceptable for a feature that’s supposed to enhance professional videography.

4. No Real Difference from Normal Video Recording

To make matters worse, the downloaded LOG footage (after applying color correction) looks identical to a normal video recorded without LOG. If there’s no noticeable improvement and it comes with so many issues, then what’s the point of having this feature?

Samsung, This Needs to Be Fixed!

Samsung has always been at the forefront of smartphone camera technology, but this time, the LOG feature on the Galaxy S25 Ultra feels half-baked. These issues make it unreliable and impractical for real-world use. I hope Samsung acknowledges these problems and pushes out an update to fix them. Otherwise, this feature is just a gimmick rather than a professional tool.

For those considering using LOG mode on the S25 Ultra, be warned—it might not be worth the hassle until Samsung addresses these issues.

Yes this is a major issue. In addition white balance is completely broken for Samsung Log. If you lock WB in 'Pro Video' mode with Samsung Log enabled, it ruins the image by applying a major magenta shift to it. You can see a demo of the issue here: https://youtu.be/Ms1RkPjF4SE?si=2IjiVYySmnS_flC-&t=288
