Try to get your hands on something never ,such an old device is never a good idea, you will have a bit better of luck with an old iphone, because you can get about 6 years of updates, some people reported since the iphone 6 they still get updates, but even second hand those phones seems to still hold their value ,since solid updates is their game. Thats if you are prepared to change OS ,but then again the A22 ,A 32 samsung is pretty well priced handsets, and compares well with even apple ,and you end up paying about R3000 less than the iphone, for a whole lot better battery, screen size and well packaged lenses. Good luck,I hope you will be able to find something that fits your budget and needs, the s7 is kinda obsolete nowadays, even the s8 ,will not give you a good experience

Can recommend the A32 as a good cheaper alternative. Used ine for a few months.

It might be a problem,I think that roll out stopped quite a while ago. The s7 is a very old phone now. I got my s8 back in 2018 ,and I received the last security patch a few months ago, although its still running smooth. The older samsung gave you 2 years of updates and one year of security updates, its only since the s10 that you can get 3 years and one year security updates. So that s7 must be close to 5 years old. Sorry buddy, the only way is rooting, and there will be a whole lot of bugs if you are prepared for it!
