Hey guys, i just performed a Thermal Test on my S20 FE 4g (Exynos 990). Since this SOC is famous for heat issue n throttling...

Idk how samsung pulled this off but here are the results..

image

For reference in the beginning the CPU use to throttle down to 60% and phone generally overheats and force closed the app..

But now its didn't went below 80% which is equivalent to its SD865 brother...

Can anyone perform a Throttle test on SD865 and post it here...? Thanks in advance..

* this is for Overheat Throttle test and is not a performance test.

Performance Noticed:
4 x 2.0 GHz Cortex - A55 @ 1.45 GHz
2 x 2.50 GHz Cortex - A76 @ 2.5 GHz
2 x 2.73 GHz Mongoose M5 @ 1.69 GHz

There is a big performance difference between the two😮.

Exactly bro
Snapdragon is way better than Exynos
It doesn't has any thermal issues
Btw i do have a Galaxy S20 FE 5G🙂

True... m not talking about performance between Exynos and SD version, we all know tha... m talking about Throttling because of overheat... since Exy 990 is king of overheating, and for the cherry on top the S20FE is also designed in sucha a way that even sd865 heats up... so for exy990 it was like worst case scenario...

Its actually improved majorly...
Like when i bought the phone in January... just a 5 min call on duo leads to force close the app because of Overheating... and then when i use to go for throttle test it shows 50-60% throttling because of overheating... but now its 85% which is actually majaor... but i had also noticed that the samsung had reduced the clock speed for the cores itself for the control... thats why i asked for SD version test...

Bro, the thing is that initially the cpu performance of both chipsets were somewhat comparable in terms of performance. The performance difference weren't more than about 15%.
But, in order to reduce the throttlling they severely reduced the performance of the exynos version. Now you can clearly see that the performance gap is easily more than 30%, it has reduced so much that it can't be termed a flagship chipset anymore.
See the detailed review about this chipset on Anandtech, you will see the terrible thermal performance of this chipset. The way it has been designed, they can't control the throttle without hampering the performance.

No Brother, In CPU throttling test, Exynos 990 is not equivalent with SD 865 .... I performed the throttling test in my S20 FE 5G for the same time duration of yours and here it is... Just check the results.... And You'll understandScreenshot_20211221-102457.jpg

Yeah i saw that... actually the thing is that before October i had performed the throttle test and the device generally go as below as 50-60% now its 85%...

The thing is idk how samsung pulled it off... but its good... i know SD is way better in performance... but this improvement is actually major in real life scenario... plus s20FE isn't a gaming device hence because of this improvement there is almost unnoticeable difference in day to day task as compared to sd counterpart... like if you just use with regular apps the heat issue for Exynos is actually gone, because when i bought the device the issue was so bad that on 5 mins call on Google Duo was forced closed and device shows the error of being too hot...

Thats why... 😊
