I would recommend, if you drop it you may Crack the screen and or possibly the back glass. I have clear coat on my s7 edge. Better to be safe than sorry.
screen protectors are only for scratches. they don't do anything for breakage. gorilla glass is highly defective. which is why some drop their phones and nothing happens, and others barely bump their's and it cracks!!!
