Samsung has frustrated Galaxy users with continuous delays in the One UI 7 rollout. While the Beta 4 reportedly dropping next week, there’s no tentative timeline provided for the Stable update’s availability on compatible models.
Android 15 was rolled out to Pixel phones in October 2024. Apple has also released the major iOS 18 update to eligible iPhones in September last year. Samsung, meanwhile, is still Beta testing the Android 15-based One UI 7.
Though the update is already late, it was anticipated that the One UI 7 will be available swiftly, but Samsung already has an excuse ready. That said, the One UI 7 rollout won’t match the speeds of Android and iOS updates.
Samsung reiterated it’s working hard to open the One UI 7 update rollout. However, the company still believes that “rolling out a major software update across multiple flagship devices at the same time is a complex process.”
No doubt, each model has different hardware configurations, optimizations, and carrier requirements that need to be carefully tested. Beta Program helps identify and fix issues before the final version is released to supported devices.
Android and iOS are already the biggest examples of what’s possible. Keep Android aside (as Pixels sales volume is low), Apple provides the new iOS updates to the oldest eligible iPhone on the same day as its most recent and expensive device.
Apple has an edge due to its control over hardware and software. Samsung maintains a close relationship with Google, and Galaxy devices deserve to be treated the same way as Pixel phones and iPhones when it comes to software updates.
But, the One UI 7 won’t be rolled out to eligible Galaxies at once. The software update’s availability would expand sequentially. However, Samsung may amaze users with a fast pace of expansion, covering premium models within March 2025.
