According to the Weibo input, the Samsung MX department is not allowed to use a camera sensor bigger than 1/1.3 inches. The company reportedly believes, larger camera sensor affects overall design and internal elemental structure of the smartphone.
Instead of increasing the sensor size to 1 inch, Samsung found ways to improvements in its 1/1.3 inch camera sensor to enhance overall performance. Since the Korean tech giant is a global and reputed brand, it has to ensure the acceptance of users worldwide, up from tech enthusiasts.
General consumers don’t want their flagship smartphone that costs over $1000 to look thicker and spoil the premium-ness. The company has not used 1-inch camera sensor in the Galaxy S23 Ultra, but the small sensor is capable of defeating all rivals with better specs.
Sony’s 1-inch IMX989 camera sensor already debuted with the Xiaomi 12S Ultra smartphone last year. Moving ahead, the Vivo X90 Pro Plus and Xiaomi 13 Pro also use the same sensor.
As per the information, the thickness of Xiaomi 12S Ultra is 9.1mm, whereas the Vivo X90 Pro Plus is even thicker at 9.7mm. As compared to both China-based flagships, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra would be quite thin, and the thickness is likely to be about 8.9mm.
