Coming from Z Fold4 and S21 Ultra, there is definitely something off with the way the display is handling colors. Significantly less punch and sharpness, can be called unattractive or muted. The screen mode is Vivid but in real not the kind of Vivid Samsung has mastered over years. Even my S9+ looks better, let alone S21 Ultra. I am not from engineering or tech background but the gamma or tones are really looking bad. Also, the photo and videos in general are not as crisp/sharp with at times a little bit of haze or blur being felt.

I have compared different S23 Ultra hansets side by side, so it's not a defect and it's the way how it is now. Even if Samsung is doing away with vividness and applying more natural tones, the result is less satisfying, atleast for now.

Fix it please, Samsung. This is a highly expensive phone and screen is taking away the overall premium experience. Thank you.

Have you compared it with an iPhone? May be they are trying to make the display more realistic.

I do have an iPhone 12 and XS and those screens are finely calibrated to be less vivid and still looks good, but not sure of what Samsung has experimented this time on one of its most expensive phones. Here is the link to Reddit post as well with many more feeling the same.

Coming from S7 and the colors are really bad on S23. The colors are washed out. I tried also vivid but the red tends to pink, looks like a cheap display to me.

I compare the S23 with an IPhone 14 and on the IPhone the colors are more vibrant. The option "True Tone" on IOS made the difference.

ZeB23 - I believe true tone more of maps blue light as per lighting conditions but I don't see it messing with actual colors too much, but atleast we have the complete freedom to use it or not. Samsung being a leader in AMOLED technology should have been able to deliver excellent color calibration. The skin tones in pictures/videos look more pale/yellow and the same is the case with reds/blues with slightly weird hues to it. This is even more visible especially using it at low brightness indoor. Hopefully they can fix it it in a s/w update.

It's samsung doing...just compare white colour side by side..you will understand...in samsung display white is dull, looking like milky white, not pure white.

On S23U Samsung has implemented new ambient condition display technique which balances the colour as per the room lightening and screen content...
I think due to this the screen may be dull often
