So, I'm on a S23 Ultra and making use of WiFi calling. The problem that bugs me a bit is that the WiFi calling has 2 different set of icons.

For SIM 1, it is showing the call icon with WiFi icon.

For SIM 2, it properly writes VoWiFi.

Is there any reason why there are different icons? Are the two icons telling something different? Or is it a bug?

Will appreciate anybody can add some insights on the differences between these icons.

Mobile icons depend upon carrier...jio uses lte however airtel uses 4g. Same for wifi calling

4G and LTE are different networks, so, their difference is understandable.

The VoLTE icon is same for both Airtel and Jio. The VoWiFi icon must essentially be the same as well.

I appreciate your reply, but I'm not a believer that a carrier difference should affect the standard icon for WiFi calling.

But yeah I've not been able to find any other reasoning either.

Airtel & Vodafone show same wifi calling icon and it's different for jio.
As in the above comment, text & symbol depends on carrier.
Like jio network will be shown as True 5g whereas Airtel will be Airtel 5g

Thank you for the addition. I think the operator difference is what it is.

However, texts and display names are operator provided data. The icons are part of OS. And only those icons are displayed that are included in the OS. I wonder why samsung included multiple variations communicating the same thing.

My past phones from Nokia and OnePlus had consistency around these icons. They were never different for different SIM cards and operator configuration.

It partly feels like a bug to me. Why use 2 different icons as if both are communicating something else. Or maybe technically under the good the implementation is different for different operators are Samsung is going into that with too much seriousness.

Another crazy stuff is that my perious phones used to combine the SIM1 and SIM2 icons that overlapped to save space. For example if both SIMs are on VoWiFi, then it would display only 1 icon with 1 & 2 written on it instead of devoting the space to 2 separate icons. I guess I'm seeing the good and bad sides of OneUI. Nothing is perfect 😄

Arey bhai

Wi-Fi calling & messaging is working so how is it a bug?

Network name & Wi-Fi calling icons are details provided by carrier to OEM.

You should call Airtel & Jio to ask why you guys are giving different symbols? 😂

I got the solution for this problem.

VoWiFi shows for Jio because it only can run in 4G network.

WiFi calling other symbol shows for both Airtel and Vi as they can be switch on 2G/3G.
