Galaxy S
Dear Samsung team,
I would like to request the addition of a "Turn off 5G" toggle in the Power Saving Mode settings. Disabling 5G when not needed can significantly improve battery life, especially in areas with weak 5G coverage where the phone constantly switches between networks.
This feature would be highly useful for users who want to maximize battery efficiency without manually switching network modes.
Thank you for considering this request to enhance the user experience and battery optimization features.
Sincerely,
A Galaxy User

It was there before and i used it and liked very much. But they removed it in ONE UI 7, i just don't understand why they did that. It was a very useful feature.

That's a very insightful suggestion, @Abhinav44. Maximizing battery life is crucial, and having a dedicated 'Turn off 5G' toggle within Power Saving Mode would definitely be a convenient feature, especially for those in areas with fluctuating 5G coverage.
While there might not be a direct 'Disable 5G' toggle universally available in every version of One UI (especially with recent updates, some users have noted the direct 'Network Mode' option might be less prominent), you can often achieve a similar effect by creating a routine that changes your preferred network type to 'LTE/4G only' when certain conditions are met. This is a great way to automate battery saving.
Here's how you can try to set up a routine to switch to 4G/LTE (if the option is available in your One UI version):
•Open Modes and Routines: Go to Settings > Modes and Routines.
•Create a new Routine: Tap the + icon to add a new routine.
•Set the 'If' condition:
• For Power Saving Mode: Select Power Saving mode and set it to On. This is a direct match to your original idea!
•For Specific Locations: Select Location and choose specific places (e.g., home, work) where 5G might be weak or unnecessary, or you want to save battery.
•For specific apps: You could also link it to apps that don't need 5G speeds, like reading apps, or when a specific app is opened.
•Set the 'Then' action:
•Tap on Connections.
• Look for Network mode. If available, you should be able to select LTE/4G only or 4G/3G/2G (auto). Note: Some users have reported this specific option being less direct or even removed in newer One UI versions, sometimes requiring a workaround like setting a routine to turn Power Saving Mode on, which then limits 5G if that was its default behavior.
•Alternatively, and more reliably, you can set the routine to turn on Power Saving Mode, as Power Saving Mode itself often intelligently restricts 5G connectivity to save battery, acting as your requested 'Turn off 5G' in those scenarios.
• Save the Routine: Give your routine a name and save it.
This way, you can automate the network switch or 5G limitation based on your usage or location, helping to save battery without manually diving into settings every time.
Samsung is generally good at listening to user feedback, so I encourage you to also submit your initial idea for a direct 5G toggle in Power Saving Mode through the official Samsung Members app if you haven't already. The more users who request a feature, the higher the chance it gets considered for future updates! Thanks for sharing your valuable input.
If this solution helps you out, please feel free to mark it as accepted!
