Hi. Your annoyance is understandable that USSD code looping bug is extremely frustrating. 😤 It’s been a long-standing Samsung issue that tends to resurface on some devices after updates, especially on models like the Note20, S21, and even the S24 Ultra.
Here’s what’s happening and what you can try until Samsung pushes a permanent fix 👇
💡 Why it happens:
It’s often triggered when a **USSD request (like # or 120# codes) gets stuck due to:
Carrier network timeouts or incomplete session responses.
Conflicts between Samsung’s dialer app and carrier SIM toolkit (STK).
Sometimes, One UI updates mess up the background handling of USSD responses.
🔧 Temporary Fixes You Can Try:
1. Clear the Dialer (Phone app) cache and data
Go to Settings → Apps → Phone → Storage → Clear cache & Clear data.
Restart your phone.
2. Reset Network Settings
Go to Settings → General management → Reset → Reset network settings.
This refreshes carrier configs that may cause looping.
3. Disable SIM Toolkit notifications temporarily
Open Settings → Apps → SIM Toolkit → Notifications → Turn off.
Then retry your USSD. (Sometimes the SIM app keeps re-calling the USSD in a loop.)
4. Use the second SIM slot (if dual-SIM)
In some cases, using SIM 2 avoids the looping issue entirely.
5. Report directly in Samsung Members
Go to Samsung Members → Support → Error reports → Phone app → Describe “USSD code loop locking the device.”
Include system logs right after it happens. This helps Samsung’s dev team pinpoint your exact One UI version and carrier behavior.
