I have samsung s22 ultra. My proximity sensor works perfectly fine for calls. However, the issue is with whatsapp audios. When i want to listen through earpiece, the screen does not go black and audio still comes through the speaker.

The samsung members diagnostic also shows the sensor is working perfectly fine.

What could be the issue

I'm also facing the same issue on S22 Ultra.

Found the solution!! Go to Apps on Settings from the phone and search WhatsApp. Then go to Permissions and choose Nearby Decides to select Not Allow. Worked on my S20 FE after more than a month with that problem.

Unfortunately with the new update, the problem has once again come back. And i have tried again by disallowing the nearby device permission method, but unfortunately there is no "nearby device permissions tab" after the recent update. So back to square one

Did anyone notice that the issue is affected by bluetooth devices connected that has a calls profile enabled?
I have a galaxy watch, and when i disconnect it, things work fine.

Oh yes. Just tried this and it works perfectly fine. Probably the disallowing nearby device was meant for this. But unfortunately now there is no nearby device option under permission tab in app setting. Dont know what they are trying to do

Hopefully whatsapp will solve this issue. Apparently the break happened on whatsapp side, not samsung.
But it seems this affects galaxy watches in specific, even if connected to non-samsung phones
