As the title says, I'm experiencing some lagging performance in the proximity sensor whenever I put the phone on my ear for listening to a record on Whatsapp, it turns off the screen for like 10-15 seconds and then pause the record and turns it back on while I'm still holding the device on my ear, meanwhile in voice calls whether on whatsapp itself or normally voice calls it works perfectly fine and doesn't do any lags despite making sure that I'm installing the latest updates in both app and the software, considering that I've restarted the phone several times and the issue remains.

Is it a software bug or should I go to a close center for check up?

It's a software bug, but honestly if it's been happening more than a multiple times now you should check with the nearest center , although you could delete WhatsApp and install again to see how that works out yk .

It's been happening everytime I put it on my ear, but you're right to tell cause I hadn't consider reinstalling the app!, I'll try it out now

so I guess you'll have to try checking out the nearest center some time to fix this issue , but did you try going to the settings and fixing the proximity from there ?

*#77692# dial this code and test the sensor proximity/light sensor its embedded under the screen after dialing the code put your phone on flat table and just wave your hand near front camera if it vibrates in green then vibration stop then the sensor is fine
If it constantly vibrates or no vibration at all then it's broken

If it's broken then unfortunately whole display need to change

I had exact same issue and by time it got worse can't hear voice messages in WhatsApp and screen black out during calls and i tried to fix via factory reset and flashing the whole software but didn't work i ended up changing new screen

Update: good news!! as I waved my hand over the sensor: it vibrated in green and once I took off my hand it stops as you instructed, I assume it's fine, then I just got back to whatsapp listened to a voice message and turns out that the issue remains!, it turns the screen back on after 15 seconds off and pauses the record, but it works perfectly fine with phone calls, it doesn't turn on the screen at all while the device is in my ear and once I move it away it turns it perfectly on!, I don't know what's the issue with Whatsapp

But other than that! the sensor works very smoothly and fast, thx for the code!

If the sensor works fine with calls then it's not hardware issue try to reinstall whatsapp and if you joined beta for whatsaap then just leave beta updates
But i still doubt your sensor is dying as i said earlier i experience same thing with s20u first it started doing with whatsapp then also started with calls black screen
I hope it got fixed for you since screen is so expensive actually more then your phone worth now
