Hi all,
How are you doing?
I'd like to ask about an old feature in Samsung galaxy s23 ultra which was, when we long press the home button, there was an option to share the particular part such as image or text. But now it's disappeared and shows create and select text. How to bring back the old feature? Kindly give me some suggestions. Thanks

What you are describing sounds like the transition from the legacy "Screen Search" (Google Assistant) to the new Circle to Search feature that rolled out with recent One UI updates.

While the interface has changed, you can still achieve the same results (and even more) with these steps:

How to use the new version: Instead of the old share menu, once you long-press the home button and the screen "shimmers," you can circle, tap, or scribble over the specific image or text you want to capture. To Share/Copy: Once you've circled an item, you’ll see options to Copy text or Share the selection immediately. Alternative (Smart Select): If you prefer the old-school way of selecting specific parts of the screen, I highly recommend using Smart Select via the Edge Panels. It allows you to pin or save specific sections of your screen just like the old feature did.

To check your settings:

Go to Settings > Display > Navigation Bar and ensure Circle to Search is toggled on.

Hope this helps you get back to sharing easily! Let us know if you have any other questions.

The feature being referred to is likely the Google Assistant or Google Lens screen search, which on the S23 Ultra has now been replaced by Circle to Search. To share specific parts of the screen, you can use the built-in Smart Select edge panel or the Circle to Search feature to easily capture text and images.

Thank you for contacting Samsung Gulf Electronics.

We understand your concern regarding the change in functionality when long-pressing the Home button on your Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Please note that this behavior has changed due to recent updates, where the previous feature has been replaced with newer functionalities such as “Circle to Search” and updated Google Assistant/Lens features. While the interface is different, similar actions can still be performed using the new options.

You may try the following alternatives:
• Use Circle to Search: Long press the Home button, then circle or tap on the content you want to select. You will get options to copy or share.
• Use Smart Select (Edge Panel):
Go to Settings > Display > Edge Panels
Enable Smart Select to capture and share specific parts of the screen بسهولة
• Ensure the feature is enabled via:
Settings > Display > Navigation bar > Circle to Search

Kindly note that the previous exact interface may no longer be available, as it has been replaced by updated system features.
