Despite the stellar hardware, the Galaxy S22 has had a rocky start, and new firmware updates continue to improve the user experience and fix issues months after the series’s release. Now a new bug appears to be cropping up for some Galaxy S22 users who took to the official Samsung Community forums in Europe to explain the situation.

Several Galaxy S22 users are reporting issues related to adaptive display and apps like Amazon Prime and Netflix. Affected customers explain that the Galaxy S22’s adaptive display seemingly switches to a lower refresh rate after a short period of inactivity, even while streaming content from Netflix or Amazon Prime.

It sounds like the Galaxy S22’s adaptive refresh rate system fails to recognize when it’s playing videos on Netflix and Amazon Prime (and possibly other apps) and dynamically switches to a lower refresh rate to save battery life. Unfortunately, this also causes the video playback to stutter, disrupting the experience.

The issue appears to have a limited reach, judging by the relatively low number of complaints on Samsung’s forums at this time. We were unable to reproduce the bug on our Galaxy S22 units, but feel free to let us know in the comment section if you’ve encountered these display problems.

Galaxy S22 series customers also experienced choppy animations and audio-video desync issues shortly after the GOS controversy happened a few months ago. Thankfully, Samsung addressed that problem through several firmware updates, so we’re guessing that this new bug will be fixed in a similar manner.
