After installing the February 2025 security update on my Galaxy S23, the main rear camera stopped working. Here are some key details:

What still works: Portrait mode and the front camera are still functional.

What’s not working: The main rear camera won’t open in any app (Samsung’s camera app, GCam, or other third-party apps). The Samsung Members diagnostic tool detects a camera failure.

🛠 What I’ve tried without success: Clearing the camera app cache. Restarting in Safe Mode. Factory reset (hard reset). Testing with alternative camera apps (GCam).

Possible Cause: This seems to be a firmware bug introduced in the February update, as the issue started immediately after updating and others are reporting similar problems.

📌 Temporary Solutions: There is no official fix from Samsung yet, but some users suggest reinstalling the update via Smart Switch or downgrading to the December patch (requires a PC).

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Has Samsung acknowledged the problem or mentioned a fix? Any information would be greatly appreciated! --- Let me know if you want any adjustments before posting!

Try to contact support

https://www.samsung.com/africa_en/support/?cid=sea-alert-redir

Go to service chat, that's the black bottom right option on screen and navigate your way to chat with agent and you should be assisted there as to way forward

Factory reset if it was successful should have unistalled everything including the update and erased user data, in essence the phone would revert back to it's state when you got it, you have to start over as if you're using a new device for the first time.... if this didn't happen it's not a factory reset, as it didn't revert back to factory default settings

I think try downgrading then reinstalling it, that should do the trick. Sometimes the, the bug isn't the update but more the phone maybe corrupted the update. So try downgrading then updating

Does Samsung allow downgrading? If so, what is the procedure?

It voids warranty though. When you mentioned you cleared cache, did you mean age cache partition for the phone in recovery mode?

A factory reset is the best way to downgrade but wipes everything from your device, to do this go to Settings>General Management>Reset>Factory Reset, it will request for your samsung account pin, enter that and you're good the device will shut and restart on it's own.....

It will downgrade to it's factory installed software

This is the best way to downgrade and not void your warranty.
