After switching ecosystems, one thing I genuinely struggle to understand is how Samsung releases major software updates without broader public beta testing across all supported devices.
Companies like Apple follow a very transparent and structured beta process. Every major software release goes through developer beta and public beta phases across multiple supported devices before the final version is rolled out. This approach makes sense because each device has different hardware limitations, and wider testing helps identify issues early.
In comparison, Samsung seems to run beta programs only for its latest flagship models. Devices like the S-series Ultra or the newest flagships often get access to the One UI beta program, but other supported devices including FE models rarely see any public beta builds.
This raises a genuine question: how are updates tested for the rest of the device lineup?
Samsung supports a very large ecosystem of phones. Without public beta testing on many of those devices, it feels like the broader user base ends up discovering issues only after the update is released.
For example, many users have recently started reporting things like:
Heating issues
Changes in speaker volume levels
Battery drain
These types of issues typically surface only when millions of users start using the update in real-world conditions.
I have been checking regularly to see if there is any beta program for the next Android / One UI version for the S24 FE, but there seems to be none available.
So the question to Samsung is simple:
Why not expand the beta program to more supported devices before releasing major updates?
A broader beta program could help identify device-specific problems earlier and improve overall stability before the software reaches everyone.

Thank you, Samsung, for acting so quickly on feedback around beta updates. Today I installed One UI 8.5, and it truly feels like a major upgrade even as a continuation of One UI 8. The improvements are noticeable and meaningful.
What stands out even more is Samsung extending the beta program to previous-generation devices like the Galaxy S24 FE. That kind of inclusion builds real trust and loyalty.
Samsung you’ve earned a stronger customer today. Thank you.
