Galaxy SWhen Samsung Galaxy phones receive a user interface (UI) update, such as One UI, it's common to notice different battery behaviour. Here's an explanation of how this process works and why there might be temporary overheating:
Battery Behaviour After a UI Update
System Optimisation: Following an update, the operating system needs to optimise itself to function with the new software. This includes reindexing files, updating apps, and configuring new services. This process can consume more energy and cause the device to heat up more than usual.
App Updates: Apps also need to be updated to be compatible with the new UI version. During this period, some apps may not be optimised, resulting in higher battery consumption.
Machine Learning: Samsung devices use machine learning algorithms to optimise battery usage based on user patterns. After an update, these algorithms need to gather new data and adjust, which can take a few days.
Reasons for Overheating
- Background Processes: The optimisation and updating of apps and services in the background can lead to intensive processor use, causing an increase in the device's temperature.
- Use of New Features: New features and improvements introduced in the update may require more system resources, contributing to overheating.
Average Adaptation Time
The average time for the system to stabilise and optimise battery usage after an update is typically a few days to a week. During this period, it's normal for battery life to be shorter and for the device to heat up more than usual.
Tips to Mitigate Impact
- Enable Power Saving Mode: This can help reduce battery consumption while the system adapts.
- Disable Unnecessary Features: Features like Always On Display or animated wallpapers can increase battery consumption.
- Check Settings: Ensure that app and system settings are optimised for the new software.
I hope this information is helpful. If you have any other questions or need more details, feel free to ask!

Galaxy SDear Samsung Member,
Greetings from Samsung Customer Support!
We regret to hear about your experience with our product.
As per your concern, we would request you to kindly perform the following steps to resolve your issue.
● Please perform the "Battery Status (Battery life + Battery Capacity)" test using the Samsung Members app.
Open the Samsung Members app (Battery Status (Battery life + Battery Capacity))
● Battery life depends on how the battery is used. Note that different devices have different battery life. The expected battery life for your model can be found in the manual.
● Please always use a standard charging procedure. Always charge in one go instead of charging many times as it affects the life span of the battery and battery performance.
● Perform Battery Optimization: Battery optimization helps you boost the battery performance of your device. To check battery optimization:
Settings > Select Device Maintenance/Device Care > Optimize > Optimize all options like Battery, Storage, and Memory
● Turn off Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, mobile hotspot, NFC, etc . when not in use.
● We recommend you avoid using in areas with low network/fluctuation because these cause the battery to drain very fast.
● Reduce the display brightness level or set the device to auto-brightness mode.
Swipe down on the home screen to open the notification panel
Turn on the Auto-brightness option if available.
It will automatically adjust the display brightness of your device according to ambient light & will reduce battery drainage.
● Adjust screen timeout settings: Settings >> Display >> Screen timeout >> Select the minimum screen timeout.
● Kindly check which application or interface is using more battery from device care and try to update the app or avoid using that app.
● Close background running apps.
● We request you to turn off the auto-sync option, it will stop the synchronization of the device with the server & reduce the battery drainage.
Swipe down on the home screen to open the notification panel.
Turn off the auto-sync option.
Update the software if available: https://www.samsung.com/in/support/mobile-devices/samsung-galaxy-smartphone-how-to-update-software/
You can reset your device by following the steps:
● Kindly create a data backup of your device via the SMART switch mobile application or http://www.samsung.com/in/support/smartswitch pc suite.
● Remember the Google password before resetting the device because it is required during initial setup.
● If you do not remember then reset (Forgot password) your Google account.
Path: Settings> General Management.>Reset>Temporary cloud backup or External storage backup>After backup tab on Factory data reset to reset your device to its factory default settings.
This will erase all data, including files and downloaded apps.
If the issue still occurs, please visit the service Centre for a physical inspection of your device. You can locate your nearest service Centre with this given link: https://www.samsung.com/in/support/service-center/
Warm Regards,
Samsung Customer Support
