Hi,

The auto brightness feature in my S8 isn't working at all. I also checked it on another S8, there also not working. The device software is up to date. If I reboot the phone, it starts working but after a few days it stops working again.

I reported the issue to Samsung, they advised to factory reset the device. I do not want to do this as I'll lose all the feel and touch if I reset it, also I've a lot of data on my phone. I do not want to adopt this lengthy procedure of resetting the phone.

Is anybody else facing this issue? Can anyone suggest an easy solution.

Thanking you.

nope.. maybe your device only, but you can try reset the setting, not factory reset.

Even after you've updated the SW if the auto brightness doesn't work that means the light sensor is not functioning. The brightness level is adjusted by device automatically through the light sensor thus be sure you've not used any screen protector that covers the sensor. Otherwise you need to change the sensor. Btw Auto brightness is not good for battery life in most of the cases except outdoor. good luck

thank you for your reply. I do have screen protector, the light sensor however is completely nude, but we purchased a brand new S8 just a week before and that S8 doesn't have any screen protector. Its auto brightness feature also does not work. Both S8 we purchased from UAE. thanks.
