I had an option a while back to either pick a galaxy A34 spanking brand new or a refurbished Galaxy Note 20 5G...and I thought well I didn't exactly want an old phone a new is better...but being a tech enthusiast questioned if should I really compare a budget phone to a recent Flagship?...I don't regret that decision till this day 7/10 an old flagship is still better than a new budget phone in all aspects e.g Faster processing/chipsets and more RAM, better lens/cameras, Faster charging speeds ,more durable protection.

Where did you purchase it and the condition??

I had an option to either buy a Galaxy A73 for like R3k or A16 for R2800, so I took the A16.

Purchased it at Cash crusaders but I checked it before...it was in very good condition ♥️but you should check cash converters online they show realistic pictures of the device not just photos from the internet

Yea I saw, it's mostly the frame that looks used. And the phone might have an aftermarket screen which disables the Fingerprint sensor.
