Numbering on App Icon

I have Truecaller installed on my Galaxy n10. On the icon in the top rhs, appears a number, for example 3. How do I get rid of this number?

I'm referring you to the attached screenshot. On the 5th horizontal line from the top and 1st vertical line from the left you will see the Truecaller icon. In the icon, at 1 o'clock position appears the number 5, circled in red. How do I remove or delete the number 5? I did not get any error messages.

Those numbers are the amount of message or notifications you have on the app that you have not read or acknowledged. You will have to open the app and go through your unread notifications.
