Fingerprint unlock is the default screen lock on my note 8 and I think it should be quicker. Being a flagship device the fingerprint unlock is slow and some times does not recognize if you do not cover the whole of the scanner. With the reader being placed awkwardly and hard to reach, it would be great if samsung can push through some software update to make the unlocking faster and an option to recognize even the partial fingerprints.

don't expect any software update on improving fingerprint reader. its a hardware thing. yes you're right, it not very fast. even xiaomi redmi4 which costs 6k has a faster scanner. and my note8 scanner has taken lots of scratches i dont know how
The reader recognises the finger print pretty quickly but the response time on unlocking the device is insanely slow. The face ID on iPhone X is quicker than the finger print reader on the Note 8. The alternative on the Note 8 are just as slow.
