media sound is not working

Check for Do not disturb in the notification panel if it is on it can be the issue creating thing.

do not disturb creates a problem sometimes.
and if you are on a call then media sounds do not work sometimes.
even i faced the problem while on a call and tried playing media sounds
and it did not work.
but after hanging up the call the media sounds are working.
maybe some glitch i think
if phone is under warranty maybe have a quick checkout of it.

I am hoping this is a software issue...
cause ringtone is just working fine....
for a temporary solution , I am using "earphone mode off" app and it's working fine....
but I need a permanent solution......
