The Samsung Galaxy M31 is the latest entrant in the Samsung Galaxy M series and succeeds the Samsung Galaxy M30s that was launched in September last year in India. The base variant with 6GB RAM/64GB storage is priced at INR 14,999, while the 128GB variant is priced at INR 15,999.

What's New?

The Galaxy M31 has a quad-camera setup and is the first phone in the M series to have a 64MP sensor. Other key specifications of the phone include a beefy 6,000mAh battery, a 6.4-inch FullHD+ AMOLED display, and a 32MP front snapper.

What about camera?

The camera application of the Galaxy M31 is quite similar to what we’ve seen on other Samsung phones and brings in a full suite of features. Live Focus (Portrait mode), Super Slow-Mo, Pro, Hyperlapse and Night are just some of the modes present on the phone. As you’d expect from the 64MP sensor, shots taken during daylight are quite satisfactory. Images are detailed, especially the 64MP shots, and they showcase good dynamic range. But if you’re not a fan of saturated-looking images, you might not be as happy with the shots.

And charging?

The gradual increase in charging speeds is one way smartphone manufacturers have made up for the lack of battery stamina in modern-day smartphones. But the Samsung Galaxy M31 falls behind in this aspect. Moreover, the inclusion of a massive battery pack does alienate anxiety to an extent, but fast charging is crucial for times when you’ve forgotten to plug the phone for a longer duration.

My Conclusion:

If you’re looking for a budget phone that comes through on most fundamental requirements like display, battery, software and cameras, the Samsung Galaxy M31 is definitely a phone you should consider.
