Yes am facing this too. Many a times the app is automatically open in the background. Btw have you switched on Chat Features (RCS) in the Messages app?

Open Messages.
Tap the three dots in the upper right corner > Settings.
Tap Chat Features.
Tap the Enable chat features toggle.

Message app opens in background automatic it causes freeze in screen for some seconds

SOLVED: Credit to User "Colors" from another Grp. His Solution "So I think I found a fix, it hasn't happened since so it might work for you. Settings>apps>messages>appear on top=off and restart. Hope this helps x". It works for most Modes including S10 and my M31
