YES, NFC means near field communication. NFC like as - share it , xender, wifi direct etc. by the help of nfc you can share your data quickly NFC available in both device than select your data what u want to send then choose nfc option and turn on nfc in second mobile then both device have to tie on with one another.

if it is helpful for u than click on the 3dot (top on comment right side) and accept solution

Buddy first of all if you want to use nfc for data transfer then i would like to tell you that nfc is very slow in data transfer. It will take 15-20 seconds to send 10MB whereas wifi used to send 5-8MB per second.
So planning for sending videos or photos over nfc is waste. Secondly nfc requires very close coverage whereas with wifi you can even get coverage out of the room as well.

So why nfc?
Its very useful in case of payments. So, here its coverage drawback bacome most useful stuff.
Secondly, regarding data transfer then cards hardly used to cantains some bits so it won't take much time.

So, don't stress yourself for nfc if going for data transfer.

But galaxy m40 despite having NFC feature  doesn't support Samsung pay which is based on NFC. I don't understand why would they do that.

This is because M40 lacks knox security which Samsung generally giving in bit high range series like A & S
If they give same in M series then there is no difference between M & A left.

I knew Samsung is worst in case of series because some M series are bit costlier than A but lacks knox security.
