Recover disappeared contacts from backup

When Android contacts disappeared, you may also try to restore from backup you created for contacts before. The restore process would not be time-consuming, but will erase all your new contacts added after the data of the backup. So, you should back up your current contact list before performing a restore.

1. Open Settings app on the Android device.

2. Tap Google.

3. Scroll down the page and tap Set up & Restore.

4. Tap Restore contacts.

3. You will be presented with a list of available backups. Select the one that you want to retrieve disappeared contacts from and tap Restore.

It will start restore your Android phone from the backup and get the contacts you want.

For Samsung users, Samsung offers its cloud service to help you back up contacts. If you turn on the "Back up data" feature and tick the "Contacts (saved on phone)" option before contacts missing from your Android, there's a way to get the contacts back.

1. Go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Samsung Cloud.

2. Scroll down until you find the Restore data, tap it.

3. Check Contacts (saved on phone). You will see the last time to back up your contacts in this phone.

4. Tap Restore.

Dear Samsung member,

Greetings from Samsung customer support.

Thank you for sharing your concern. We acknowledge your query and apologize for the same. And please follow the easy troubleshooting steps which might help to solve the issue.

We would like to inform you that please check if you have synced your data with your Gmail or Samsung account then you may retrieve your data. (Go to settings>>Accounts & backup>>Backup & restore>>Restore data)

Check the recyle-bin of your smartphone: Menu>>apps>>phone icon>>three vertical dots>>settings>>recycle-bin>>deleted contacts.

However, if data has been lost accidentally and you have not taken any backup then there is no way to retrieve your data. For the future we recommend you to take back up in the phone.

Install Smart Switch App from Samsung galaxy Store:
Data backup process via 'Smart Switch Mobile App'>Open Smart Switch App >Click on Memory Card Icon >Backup option >Choose the data for Backup >Backup.

Import contacts:
App's screen>>contactS>>More (three dots)>>manage contacts>>import/export contacts>>import>>SIM card>>Select contacts, for this example tap on all>>done>>google account>>"Import".
Your contacts will be saved to your google account and saved to your phone the next time google is synced.

In case the issue still occurs. Please register your concern in Samsung Members Application (Open Samsung Members Application > Get help > Send Feedback > Error report).

Thank you for writing to us.
Warm Regards,
Samsung Customer Support.
