J7 is not going to get android 9 as it was launched in 2015 and android 9 has functionality of darkmode

You can use a dark theme instead

I am using a dark theme in my J7 2016. It's so convenient and also it saves ton of battery life for me (applicable only for J7 with amoled screens. Lcd J7 phones like J7 prime wont show any difference in battery life)
