๐ฟ Buddhist Temples in Lumbini ๐ฟ

So, Lumbini is home to the birthplace of the Lord Buddha. The exact birthplace is inside of Maya Devi Temple (the white temple from my last post). This remains the most sacred location in all of Lumbini and what makes this town one of four Buddhist pilgrimage sites worldwide!

Fast forward to today, the government of Nepal wants to develop Lumbini as a center of world peace. In 2001, the World Peace Pagoda (photo 6) was built perpendicular to Maya Devi Temple. Since the early 2000s, along the lines of its stated intention, the government of Nepal has allocated small patches of land from Maya Devi Temple to the Word Peace Pagoda to countries around the world that recognize Buddhism as a national religion
.
This has essentially created an โEpcotโ of Buddhism and world peace in the center of one of the holiest sites in the world. Each country designed and constructed a temple, stupa or monastery in the style of their home country. Itโs an incredibly beautiful and peaceful experience to walk from temple to temple, and feel like you are traveling from country to country
.
There are 21 Buddhist structures from global nations in total. Here are my Top 10, and the countries that built them:
